Terms of Service
The basis on which we quote for and carry out work.
This policy has been written around this business's own service facts as a starting point. It has not been reviewed by a solicitor and must be checked against your actual data processing before the site goes live.
These terms
These terms apply to work carried out by Domestic Utilities Service unless a written quotation or contract says otherwise. Where the two differ, the quotation or contract takes precedence.
Surveys and quotations
A survey is carried out where the work requires one. Quotations are based on the property's condition as found at survey and on the assumptions stated in the quotation. If concealed conditions are discovered once work starts — and on older properties they occasionally are — we will tell you, explain the options and agree any variation in writing or by email before continuing.
How quotations are held
A quotation is fixed for the period stated on it, provided the scope and the conditions at survey do not change. Quotations are valid for [validity period to be confirmed] from the date of issue.
Payment
Payment terms are set out on the quotation. Deposits may be required to order materials or to secure a start date, in which case this is stated up front. Invoices are payable within the period stated on the invoice.
Access and site conditions
You agree to provide safe access to the work area, to disarm alarms, and to secure pets. Parking or permit requirements should be flagged before the start date so they can be planned for.
Cancellation and changes
You can cancel an accepted quotation within 14 days of accepting it. Once work has started, you remain liable for work completed and materials ordered. We may need to reschedule for weather or supply reasons; we will tell you as soon as we know.
Workmanship and warranty
Our workmanship guarantee is [guarantee period to be confirmed]. Manufacturer warranties on parts and appliances are those offered by the manufacturer and are subject to their terms, including any requirement for annual servicing.
Liability
We hold public liability insurance in respect of the work we carry out; the cover level is stated on quotations. We are not liable for pre-existing faults, for damage caused by concealed defects in the property, or for work carried out on our instruction by others.
Complaints
If something is not right, tell us first — +44 (0)1254 922595 or info@domesticutilities.uk. We will investigate and respond. Complaints records are kept and reviewed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
